Many Copenhageners are familiar with two food markets in the city, Torvehallerne right next to Nørreport Station and Papirøen on Christianshavn. However, they might not have heard of the new kid in town: WestMarket in Vesterbro. Nestled between Vesterbrogade and Matthæusgade, WestMarket is a food hall with plentiful and varied food stands.
Last Friday night, a few friends and I visited WestMarket for dinner. It did not disappoint! There were many choices, and between my three friends and I, we travelled the world for dinner: Ugandan vegetarian wrap, Indian pakoras, a Caribbean meat and fish platter, American/Danish sliders and Danish beer.
Coming from Canada/North American where food courts are a staple and a variety of restaurants are available, food halls in Copenhagen are such a treat. The three food halls mentioned in this post cater to people of all ages and groups. Whether you are a family with children, a couple, a group of friends, or even if you would like to grab a bite to eat by yourself, these food halls are a great place to visit in Copenhagen.
